The First Gathering

We were thrilled to launch our brand at The Gathering of Tribes, a regenerative conference in the middle of an old-growth forest in Ponte de Lima. The gathering focused on sustainability, community, and environmental innovation. The event provided the perfect platform to introduce our brand and our products made from repurposed tent fabric, embodying our commitment to reducing waste and promoting environmental regeneration and circular design.

As part of our launch, we hosted Fabric Alchemy: A Circular Design Workshop by RVRT

Alchemy is the ancient art of transformation – turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. At Fabric Alchemy, we embrace this principle by transforming discarded tent fabric into one-of-a-kind tote bags, proving that one person’s trash can truly become another’s treasure.

In this hands-on workshop, we repurpose retired tent fabric into unique, functional tote bags using nothing more than scissors and creativity.

Want to try it yourself? Here’s a quick step-by-step guide on how to transform old fabric into a functional tote bag:

1️⃣ Grab your fabric – Choose a sturdy piece of fabric. (We used old tents abandoned at festivals.)
2️⃣ Cut a rectangle – Measure and cut out a rectangle to the size you want for your tote. (We used an old carpet as a guide!)
3️⃣ Fold in half – Fold the fabric in half, with the fold as the bottom of your tote.
4️⃣ Draw and cut a handle – Trace your handles and cut them out.
5️⃣ Cut strips across the sides – Cut evenly spaced strips along both sides of the bag.
6️⃣ Knot the side strips – Tie the strips together to secure the sides.
7️⃣ Use it for your next adventure – Your upcycled tote is ready for the beach, grocery runs, or any adventure ahead!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined the Fabric Alchemy Workshop at The Gathering of Tribes 2024. You made this event truly special.

See you on the trail!
